Price per wing

Bigger packs cost less per wing. Compared with the single 9-piece order at the same store:

The 72-wing pack is the cheapest per wing and still includes a Family Fry Box ($12.69 on its own). Delivery apps listed the packs at $28.26, $56.41 and $104.15, roughly 24% above the store for the party pack.

Calories: read this before trusting the number

Whataburger's online menu shows 1,500 calories for the 72 WhataWings Party Pack. That is exactly the calorie figure of the Family Fry Box alone, so it almost certainly leaves out the wings. The 18 and 36 bundles show no calorie figure.

For a better estimate, the 9-piece WhataWings order is 810 calories, about 90 per wing. On that basis 18 wings are about 1,620, 36 about 3,240 and 72 about 6,480 calories before fries and sauce (our math).

Sauce adds up fast: the ranch cups are several hundred calories each, buffalo is the lightest.

Ordering for a party

• Swap fries for onion rings in a bundle for $1.80.
• Mix flavors across the pack, and pick sauces that match.

• Add burgers: the 10 Whataburger Box pairs well for a crowd.
