Whataburger Discounts: Senior, Military, Student and Birthday Offers
Whataburger's main discount is for the military: veterans and active-duty service members get a free 16 oz coffee in store with military ID. We found no senior, student or teacher discount; for everyone else, the app gives 10 points per $1 toward free food.
Military and veterans
Whataburger's best-documented discount is for the military. Since Veterans Day, Whataburger has offered veterans and active-duty service members a free 16 oz hot or iced coffee, in store, with a military ID; a deals listing shows the offer running through December 31, 2026. In 2025 it also ran Taquito Tuesdays: one free taquito for veterans and active-duty military during breakfast hours, in store, through December 30, 2025.
A taquito with cheese is normally $3.89 at the San Antonio store we checked, so the taquito offer was worth about that much each week.
Senior discount
We found no Whataburger senior discount. It is not on the menu or in the offers we checked, and news coverage of Whataburger deals does not mention one. Some individual stores may offer something locally, so it does no harm to ask, but there is no chain-wide senior price.
The cheapest way for anyone to eat at Whataburger is the value menu; see Whatadeals.
Student and teacher discounts
We found no chain-wide student or teacher discount. Whataburger's regular way of rewarding customers is its app rewards program, which anyone can join for free.
Birthday rewards
We found no confirmed chain-wide birthday freebie. Whataburger's offers appear in its app and change often, so check there around your birthday. How the points and offers work is on Whataburger app and rewards.
App rewards: the discount everyone gets
The Whataburger app gives 10 points for every $1 spent, online or in store, and points can be traded for free menu items. That makes it the closest thing to a standing discount at Whataburger.
Current offers and coupons are on Whataburger deals and coupons.
Free items with rewards points
The app's point rewards are the way most regulars get free food. Spending on your usual order builds points you can trade for a burger, a breakfast item or a drink.
Cheapest ways to pay less
- Value menu: $4 Jr. sandwiches and the $3.00 Big Ranch Wrap.
- Pick up, don't deliver: delivery apps priced items about a quarter higher than the store in our comparison.
- Order the numbered burger: a #5 costs less than a #1 with bacon and cheese added.
- Group boxes: the 10 Whataburger Box works out to $5.40 per burger.
Every price is on Whataburger menu prices and the cheapest items on cheapest Whataburger items.
